No Script? No Problem! Step into the Fun with WWLT Unscripted

Have you ever watched an actor command a stage and wondered, "How do they look so relaxed?" Or maybe you’ve seen television shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? and thought it must take superhuman speed to come up with ideas on the spot.

Here is a little secret: you don't need a script, decades of experience, or quick-fire comedy skills to enjoy being on stage.

Starting  November 11th, Woy Woy Little Theatre is launching WWLT Unscripted—a monthly night dedicated to theatre games, improvisation, challenging ourselves, community connection and having some fun.

When: The second Wednesday evening of each month. From 7 pm.

Where: The home of WWLT, The Peninsula Theatre, Woy Woy

What Are Theatre Games & Improvisation?

If the word improvisation brings on a sudden flash of stage fright, let us set your mind at ease!

Theatre games are simply interactive activities that focus on a few easy to understand rules, Designed to help people warm up, listen, think creatively, and collaborate. You don't have to be the funniest person in the room, or the most dramatic character. Instead, just focus on playful rules that will allow everyone to react naturally and find what works best for you.

• Play over Performance: There are no lines to memorize, no cues to miss, and zero pressure to be funny. The humour and drama happens naturally when people listen and react.
• The "Yes, And..." Philosophy: The golden rule of theatre games is simple: accept whatever your partner says ("Yes") and add your own idea to it ("And..."). It’s a supportive framework where every idea is the right idea.
• The Social Connection: Above all, it is an excuse to step away from screens, meet vibrant local community members, and share your love of theatre and games in a warm, encouraging space.

Whether you are a seasoned WWLT performer looking to sharpen your stage presence, a backstage crew member curious about acting, or a complete newcomer who has never set foot near a stage before, WWLT Unscripted was built with you in mind.

What Can You Expect at a Session?

Each session is facilitated by friendly WWLT team members who guide the group step-by-step through light warm-ups, group games, and mini scenes.

Session Stage	What We'll Be Doing
1. The Warm Up	Shake off the real world and warm up for the games ahead.  Gentle, whole-group circle games designed to warm up your vocal chords and get the body moving. These can range from simple word games like building a story where everyone says one word each as we go around in a circle, to something like shaking every part of your body as we get ready to exercise our creative muscles.
2. Improv and theatre games	Short, playful improv where members can jump in—or sit back and cheer! Designed to improve theatre skills and have some fun. These games are structured to follow rules like jumping into a scene and adding an exciting new variable or coming up with a character on the fly that someone might need to figure out by asking the right questions!
3.The Social effect	Enjoy tea, coffee, nibbles, and casual chat with fellow theatre enthusiasts. You might be surprised just how many people from all walks of life like to unwind by getting up on a stage!

You can participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There are no spotlights pointing at you on night one—just a circle of friendly faces ready to welcome you in!
